I'm a Doctoral Candidate studying
cephalopods (octopuses, squid, cuttlefish, and nautilus) at
Dalhousie University in Halifax, Canada. I enjoy both topside and underwater photography,
especially macrophotography, and compete at the Photographic Guild of Nova Scotia.
Both the lead and red color morphs of Plethodon cinereus are common in Nova Scotia, Canada and I have found them at Cape Split, Mount Uniacke Estate Park, Halifax, Bedford, and
Kejimkujic. P. cinereus is occasionally found under rocks but most often they are found in or under rotting wood. Sorin has been very helpful in answering my questions about these and other amphibians.
I use a Pentax K-1000, extension tubes, 100 asa Sensia, and a tripod to take all of my macro shots. I try to get the camera as close to eye level with the subject as I can and often use long exposures (1 second) in order to maximize depth of field (f11-f22). A tripod is essential for this type of photography.
