Introducing Salamandra salamandra gallaica .The Portuguese Fire Salamander can be encountered around Setubal, in the humid Pinus, Quercus, Eucalyptus forests, mixed with Rosmarinus shrubs (panoramic view 2). Adults are estivating between grapevine roots or under logs (photo 3). In that area, salamanders can be found in valleys with small creeks and temporary ponds (photo 4). Females deposit aquatic larvae in temporary ponds (photo 5 and 6) or creeks. Vegetation in the area consists of trees (Eucalyptus, Pinus, Quercus, Arbutus, etc), shrubs (Rosmarinus, Cistus, Ulex, Myrtus, Pistachia, Genista, Phillyrea, Juniperus, etc.), and grasses.

Pipidae is my major amphibian interest. The following species have been bred:
Hymenochirus boettgeri boettgeri (Tornier, 1896)
Pipa carvalhoi (Miranda Ribeiro, 1937)
Pipa pipa (Linne, 1758)
Pipa parva
Silurana tropicalis (Gray, 1864)
Xenopus laevis (Daudin, 1802)
Xenopus laevis albino form
Xenopus borealis (Parker, 1936)
Xenopus laevis victorianus (Loveridge, 1932)
Wishes.Strongly interested in Pipidae. Want to get in touch with fellow breeders of Pipidae for exchange of information.
