My interest in photography began in 1989 in an effort to record observations of the natural world during weekend hiking excursions. From 1992 to 1997 I worked as a volunteer for the Massachusetts Herp Atlas Project, and submitted over 200 records to help document the local amphibian and reptile population. Admittedly, my initial interest in this project was to use it as an assignment to help improve my photography. It wasn't long before I became more interested in the herps than the photography and currently monitor a calling amphibian route for NAAMP under the guidance of Scott Jackson at the University of Massachusetts.
